the Grand Imam of Yorubaland and Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik AbdulGaniyy Agbotomokekere on Sunday turbaned Fodilat Sheik Al-Imam Aminullahi Ibrahim Alabi Kupalo as the new Chief Imam of Ona-Ara Local Government in the presence of the former President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigene and the Chairman, Ibadan Muslim Community, Chief Mustapha Adebayo Oyero, the Executive Chairman, Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Musibau Sanusi SHABA, Oyo State Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, Senator Teslim Folarin represented by Alh. Yinka Folarin, President, Ona Ara Development Forum ODF., Chief Kola Bolomope, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi Chairman, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Oyo-State Yoruba Youth Leader, FOMWAN Ona Ara, among other dignitaries from Ona Ara.
The turbaning ceremony, which was organized by the Ona Ara League of Imams & Mufasirs in conjunction with Ona Ara Local Government, was held within the Ona Ara Local Government Secretariat, Akanran, Ibadan, Oyo State.
While welcoming the dignitaries, the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Musibau Sanusi SHABA, enjoyed the new Chief Imam to emulate the attitude and character of his predecessor, while he described late Imam Abdlateef Salaudeen as a peace maker.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Mustapha Adebayo Oyero expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for the actualisation of this event, and specially appreciates the Grand Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik AbdulGaniyy Agbotomokekere for always being there for us in Ona Ara anytime he sees our call. He pray for the Local Government Chairman and other personalities that making Ona Ara proud at the moment. He also prayed for a successful reign to the new Imam of Ona Ara Land. This Turbaning Ceremony is first of it’s kind in history of Ibadanland.

In his sermon, Chief Imam of Ibadanland, says to the newly Turbaned Chief Imam of Ona-Ara Local Government, Fodilat Sheik Al-Imam Aminullahi Ibrahim Alabi Kupalo, is to be grateful to almighty Allah for the privilege accorded to him to attain the position of Chief Imam of Ona Ara Local Government.
He said one of what’s to be in his mind is to continue championing the course of uniting Muslim faithful across Ona Ara Local Government.
Speaking after he was turbaned, the new Chief Imam, Fodilat Sheik Al-Imam Aminullahi Ibrahim Alabi Kupalo, expressed his gratitude to almighty Allah for the privilege accorded to him to attain the position of Chief Imam of Ona-Ara Local Government.
Sheik Kupalo appreciated the efforts of Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Agbotomokekere and his council, the Ona Ara Local Government, Muslim leaders in the Local Government area under the umbrella of Aare Musulumi of Ona Ara Local Government, Alhaji Cheif Abdul Rauf Olaniyi Awee for their role in his emergence and Turbaned as Chief Imam of Ona Ara Local Government.
While soliciting for the support of all and sundry, Sheik Kupalo assured that he will continue to emulate the good foundation laid by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and others who are his role models.
Because of his efforts in ensuring unity within the family and imparting Islamic knowledge on the people, Sheik Aminullahi Kupalo was made Mufasir (Alfa Agba) of Ona Ara Local Government in 1998 till 2021 after which he was honoured as the Chairman of Mukadam Faida Tijani Niyyas in Oyo State.
