Resolution Reached At The 4th World Omoluabi Festival
The Apex Yoruba interest group; Igbimọ Àpapọ Yoruba Lágbayé i.e Yoruba Council Worldwide, the umbrella body for Yoruba Council of Women Worldwide (YCWW), Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW), Yoruba Council of Students Worldwide (YCSW), Ọmọluabi School Club (OSC) and all other affiliated groups under the Presidency of Aare Barr. Oladotun Hassan, Aare Oódua Agbaye, has on the 1st of May, 2022 gathered numbers of Yoruba Monarchs, Elders, Elites, Youth Leaders, Sons and Daughters at Ile Ife, Osun State for the annual World Omoluabi Festival And Presentation of Omoluabi Royal Icon Awards, The 4th Edition, tagged; Isokan Yoruba 2022, held at Ojaja Arena Ife Grand Resorts and Leisure, Ile Ife, Osun State.
The festival which had notable, industrious and reputable sons and daughters of noble Yoruba origin from all works of life, come together from all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria and the diaspora to iron out critical issues affecting the Progress, Peace and Unity of Yoruba Nation.
The festival commenced on the 30th of April, 2022, with the arrival of guests at the World Obatala Temple to join the Obalasu Obatala Agbaye, His Divine Grace O.O.O Dada on the appeasement and fortification of the land.
The main day was the 1st of May where couple of demands were made to the Federal Government part of which are as follows;
1. The the government should make the laws of the land available at the disposal of all citizens in their most understanding language. In order to help a better understanding of the processes of governance and ultimately help improve the quality of the system of governance because we believe as a people that there’s need for the Federal Government and the State Governments to bring the constitution to the understanding of the people so that they can be properly informed and when we need to make amendment on that constitution or restructure the system, everything can be properly checkmated and citizens will not be taken for granted.
2. That the Annual Omoluabi festival shall always offer ample opportunities to celebrate the beauty of the Yoruba culture and traditions, and to always be used as an avenue to rub minds on salient issues pertaining to the Progress, Unity and Development of all Yorubas including our Monarchs, Traditional, Religious, Political Leaders and all Yoruba born Elites and Celebrities irrespective of ideologies, we must all have at the top of our minds that Yoruba Interest should always come first above all personal interests.
3. The Council demands for immediate consideration on the Establishment of the Proposed Executive Bills Federal Government under the led-adminiatration of His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari such as;
– Establishment of the National Youths Development Commission Bill: A bill that is expected to regulate, register and administer all youth and students associations in Nigeria, with the mandate to create a National Youth Data Base and Youth Identification Card for all Young persons with National Youths Trust Funds and other related matters.
– Establishment of the Southwest Development Council/Commission: A bill to provide intervention support in the areas of Infrastructure development, Agriculture, Education, Health, Youth and Women Empowerment Programmes in small and medium scales enterprises (SME’S), and all other related matters.
– Establishment of the National Joint Regional Security Network Agency: A bill to provide community policing strategic support to the existing National Security institutions in the fight against Insurgency, Cultism and other Security threats, and to also Regulate, Register and Administer all local security networks such as Hunters and Vigilante Associations in Nigeria, with a mandate to create an umbrella body under a code name: “National Operation Sweep Movement” with creation of Identification Card for all registered licensed operatives, with National Security Trust Fund and other related matters.
” The Council on behalf of the entire Yoruba indigenous Citizens therefore, use the occasion of the World Omoluabi Festival, to once again make this demands from the Federal Government in order to help curb the alarming rate at which the Yoruba cultural ethos is fast going into extinction in our society today with corresponding negative consequences and fighting against the situation.
The event organized by the council under the Royal authority of his Imperial Majesty, Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife and Co-Chairman National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) is an annual gathering of all Yoruba Sons and Daughters across the globe, as this year 2022 featured Cultural display and Award presentations to distinguished individuals who have contributed immensely to the development and service to humanity in line with the Royal vision and mission of the Arole Oodua and Ooni of Ife, The progenitor of the entire Yoruba race.
The Ooni if Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, who was ably represented at the event by the Alara Oodaye of Ife, H.R.M Oba Adebisi Layade applauded the organizers of the event under the leadership and vision of Aare Oladotun Hassan (Aare Oodua Agbaye) as Kabiesi also officially launched the council’s automated Ọmọluabi I.D Card (An identity for all sons and daughters of Yoruba land), a book titled “Social Vices, Ritual Killings, Cybercrime, Teenage Sex Effect and Way Out” a book authored by Omoluabi Tunde Ogunsuyi with the initiative of Aare Barr. Oladotun Hassan and also The “Omoluabi School Club” established to avail the Southwestern and other Yoruba Ancestral States Government to invite critical stakeholders in the education sector, Distinguished Royal Fathers, captains of industries, including all school proprietors, Principals, Headmasters Headmistress, selected Students and Pupils in all the local government of the Southwestern/Yoruba Ancestral States to this historical epoch making event.
Aims and Objectives:
– To promote the Omoluabi definition of Hardwork, wisdom, resilience and integrity
– To build a common brand identity of a true Omoluabi culture and behavioural landmarks, renowned of the Yoruba people globally.
– To promote Entrepreneurship Exposure.
– To promote Summer Camping, Concept Development and Extra Curricular Activities/ Vocational Training and Skills.
– To manage and organise school events; ensure continuous hosting of annual motivational seminars, tourism & school excursion and events geared towards the attainment of this vision via: visit to historical monument sites and meeting important members of the society from our Distinguished Royal Fathers, visits to Palaces, Government officials to mention a few.
– To cub all forms of juvenile delinquency, excessive behavioral conducts capable of jeopardizing the lifestyle of our young students and pupils in and out of school.
– To ensure promotion of our local dialects through Annual Omoluabi Quiz and Debate Competitions amongst schools in Ogun State and Southwestern States.
– To ensure adequate media awareness and aggressive campaign against juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, cultism, abortion, early and unprotected sex, prostitution, ritualism, cybercrime and all other forms of criminality in our today’s society.
And any other mutually agreed activities ancillary to the above objectives.
It shall run concurrently with other clubs during extra curricular activities hours wherein students añd pupils attend various school associations and clubs- such as: interact, debate, Red Cross, Boys Scout to mention a few.
This done in due recognition of promoting the fast eroding culture of Omoluabi ethos, as well as projecting the Igbimo Apapo Yoruba Lagbaye’s indefatigable landmark achievements and roles towards the promotion of the aesthetic Yoruba cultural heritage and values always.
Indeed Ooni of Ife’s unending love for all Yoruba indigenous sons and daughters in the entire Yoruba Land and beyond is second to none, and this remain eternally indelible in our hearts, while acknowledging His Majesty’s pivotal roles towards ensuring peaceful coexistence and harmony in in Yoruba Land, and by extension Nigeria at large.
