Alhaji Abdulfatai Adewale Abdulazeez, the Seriki Adini of Ona Ara Local Government, has been turbaned as the Sanmori Adini of Oyo state.
The turbaning ceremony was held, on Saturday, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital under the Chairmanship of the Grand Imam of Oyo State, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, His Eminence Sheikh Abd Ganiyy Abubarkar Agbotomokekere, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and Grand Imam of Oyo State.
While speaking shortly after the ceremony, Hajj Abdulazeez who is also the Seriki Adini of Ona Ara Local Government and Otun Aare Musulumi of Awe-Land in Oyo town, thanked Allah and the Muslim ummah for finding him worthy of the position due to his contribution to the society.
He promised to do more and prayed Allah should grant everyone long lives to witness more of his efforts in upholding the beauty of Islam in the entire state.
His words: “Glory be to God, it is a thing of a joy, it is one of the so many things that God have in package for us. It is destined that we’ll be Sanmori Adini today.
The former general Chairman of Palupo Community in Ona Ara Local Government urged people not to mix tradition with religion and not too allow tradition to conflict with faith.
He also sued for peace adding that Nigeria needs peace now than ever as we are looking forward to the general elections.
“It is unity, the founder of Islam preaches peace. Peace is Islam. There’s religion, there’s tradition, but we should know that we have tradition, and our tradition should not conflict with our faith, there’s no faith or group that do not want peace.
“Nigeria needs peace now, more than ever. So as an ambassador of peace, we should spread that gospel that we need peace in our nation. Peace before any other thing, you must be peaceful before you talk of economy. So we want peace in our nation.” He concluded.

Musibaudeen Sanusi SHABA, Chairman, Ona Ara Local Government; Asoju Odo Alawode Rahmon Chairman, Oyo State Yoruba Youths Council, Abdulazeez Islamic Propagation of Nigeria (AIPON), Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Awe Muslim Community (Home and Diaspora) Chief Imams from all zones in the state and numerous others.
