With gale of defection depleting major political parties in Nigeria, another Oyo State chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former special adviser to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi on works, Chief Muftau Open Salawu, has dumped the party.
Chief Salawu, the Babalaje of Ogbomoso land, business mogul and philanthropist, joined the APC in 2014.
He was untill his resignation from the party an aspirant for the seat of Ogbmoso North, South and Oriire federal constituency at House of Representatives, Abuja.
Speaking with Newsmen on Monday, the Waziri Jari Nupe said he had decided to give his supporters within Ogbomoso North, South and Orire federal constituency the sum of #10,000,000 that he ought to have spent in purchasing nomination forms of the party.
Hammering on perceived undemocratic tendencies, Salawu explained, “Today, I resigned my membership of APC. Having closely studied the situation of the party, I hereby cease to be party to undemocratic process.
“I joined the APC in 2014 and since then, I have always been a financial and active member until now. I have decided to give my supporters within Ogbomoso North, South and Orire council areas the sum of #10,000,000 that I ought to have spent in purchasinh my nomination form.
“I encourage all right thinking people of our dear country to rise and participate in active politics. Until then, we may not get the desired and deserved results.”
Asked on his next political move, Chief Salawu simply said, “My next political moves shall be announced soon. Thank you and God bless Ogbomoso, Oyo State and Nigeria.”
