In the continued celebration of its first anniversary, Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV) recently paid a respectful visit to the Alhaja Nimotallah Central Mosque in Ologuneru, Ibadan. The mosque, a poignant symbol built by Alhaji Isiaka Gbolagade Awujoola in memory of his late mother, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of reverence and remembrance.
The visit included a Jumat service led by the Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrim Board, Sheikh Hashim Abdul Wahab Olamide Atere. The sermon delivered during the service focused on “Ethics in Journalism” with a special emphasis on Islamic views on the responsible dissemination of information.
Sheikh Atere task media professionals to adopt a more investigative approach before presenting information to the public. Emphasizing the ethical responsibility of media practitioners, he charged them to fear God in their communication, urging them not to mislead the public with false information.
In a compelling charge to IMV members, Sheikh Atere highlighted the importance of not harboring jealousy in sharing information. He encouraged them to believe in God’s reward for their good deeds, emphasizing that honesty and integrity should be the guiding principles in their information-sharing endeavors.
Concluding his message, Sheikh Atere passionately charged Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV) members to leverage their profession to promote peace and contribute to the development of Ibadan through responsible and constructive dissemination of information.
