Trouble Looms As Royal Family Petition Olota, Ado Odo-Ota LG Official, Afolabi Afuwape Over Fraud, Impersonation, Threat To Lives On Itele Obaship Tussle
As the battle of filling the over twenty years Vacant Stool of Onitele of Itele, Awori, Ado Odo Ota Local Government, continues to spring up more issues on daily basis over who the legitimacy of who fills the stool.
It is gathered that on the 16th December, 2011 in SC: 200/2003-CHIEF GAFARU AROWOLO VS CHIEF SUNDAY EDUN OLOWOOKERE it is judicially affirmed by The HighCourt (1995), Appeal Court (2005) and Supreme Court of Nigeria that Adogun Atele is the founder and first settler of Itele Kingdom, hence the descendants as the only family eligible to the throne.

Contrary to the verdict of the Apex court of the federation as far back as 2011, the Ogun State Government having been passing the mantle of leadership from one administration to the other has refused to comply with the verdict of the court by filling the vacant stool with a member of the eligible family (i.e Adogun Atele Family) till date.
However, our correspondent in the course of investigation has received a petition from a insider source of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission signed by the Adogun Atele family lawyer Barrister Olarewaju Balogun of Lanre Balogun & Co. against Mr Solomon Dada, the Director of Administration and General Service, Mr Luqmon Opaleye whom are both officials of Ado Odo/Ota Local Government, Oba Kabiru Adeyemi Obalanlege, the Olota of Ota and Hon. Afolabi Moruf Afuwape, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State.
The petition which was addressed to the Chairman of the Commission with the title “Re: Fraudulent Practices, Forgery, Impersonation, Abuse of Office And Leakage of Government Official Secrets By Mr Solomon Dada And Luqmon Opaleye, Employees of Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area Of Ogun State, Request To Investigate And Determine The Complicity Of The Both Employees In The Fraudulent Sale Of The Stool Of Onitele of Itele To Ademola Asorota For The Sum Of One Hundred Million Naira” has been generating series of attentions as the people of Ogun State awaits the response of Ogun State Local Government Commission in determining the roles of the aforementioned government officials.
The said petition was born to have emanated after the outcome of a motion that was recently argued at the Supreme Court where the defense of the suit by the office of the Attorney General of Ogun State on behalf of the State and Local Government, attached the copy of the deposed affidavit that explicitly gave account of how Ado-Odo Ọ̀tá Local Government, Ogun State. And the manner at which the State Government gave out the letter of invitation meant for Adogun Atele Family to the said Mr Solomon Dada, the Director of Administration and General Service to deliver same to Adogun Atele family to commence the process of filling the vacant stool of Onitele from Adogun Atele family in line with the Supreme Court judgment. Initially, the said Solomon Dada was also reported in the petition to have requested for N5 million from the Head of family of Adogun, Chief Taoridi Dada before releasing their letter. The said Solomon Dada also criminally conspired with the Olota of Ota, Oba Kabir Obalanlege to organize an election yet to be identified persons in the name of Adogun Atele Family and purportedly elected the Lagos spender Mr Ademola Eletu Asorota.
The petition also entail the fact that Mr Solomon Dada had denied conducting any election before the House of Assembly on the 10th of August, 2021 but unknowingly to him that the State Government would later expose him.
The petition states the furtherance affirmation of the family’s claim on the plot to fraudulently sell Onitele of Itele stool by some officials of Ado Odo Ota Local Government by name Mr Solomon Dada (The Director General Services and Administration), Mr Luqmon Opaleye, Oba Kabiru Obalanlege and the Honourable Afolabi Moruf Afuape.
The Adogun Atele Family has also raised alarm on the threat to the lives of there members and demolition of their family properties by some notable thugs with evidences of machetes and their demolished proposed palace under construction.
This Itele Obaship matters is fast rising to becoming a matter of national interest as we urge the Ogun State Government to delve into the matter for a lasting solution once and for all.
