Fondly known simply as “Ambassador” by family, friends, and colleagues, he was a man with boundless capabilities and a charismatic personality, leaving a legacy of resilience and a “CAN DO” attitude that continues to inspire those of us who were lucky to be under his guidance.
A visionary and dedicated leader, Ambassador Timothy was a pioneer in shareholder activism, advocating tirelessly for transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s capital market. He founded the Renaissance Shareholder Association of Nigeria, a movement that forever changed the landscape of shareholder rights in Nigeria. As the Director of SRAN Communication Limited and publisher of CorporateTRUST Newspaper, he upheld the interests of capital market stakeholders with integrity, ensuring that crucial information reached those it mattered to most. I had the honor of serving as his Executive Assistant for years, and those were formative years of my life.
Working with Ambassador was an education in itself. He didn’t just teach me tasks; he taught me values and instilled in me a work ethic founded on determination, honesty, and respect. From learning to operate computers to gaining insights into the intricacies of the capital market sector, Ambassador opened doors I never dreamed of. With his guidance, I even became a shareholder in various publicly listed companies, a legacy that continues to bear fruit.
Our journeys together took us across Nigeria, visiting almost every prominent state as we championed the cause of shareholder activism. Inspired by his leadership, I went on to establish the PRUDENT Shareholder Association, standing on the foundation he helped me build.
Ambassador Timothy exemplified boldness, always speaking truth to power with conviction. His advice resonates with me still: “Rahmon, don’t steal, don’t fight when you’re wrong.” He taught me the value of integrity and the courage to stand up for what is right, a principle I carry with me daily.
