The Okanlomo Oódua, Chief (Engr.) Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has heartily felicitated the Government and the good people of Oyo State as the Pacesetter State formally commences activities marking its 50th anniversary, a golden milestone in its historic journey since creation.
Chief Sanusi described the Golden Jubilee as a moment of deep reflection and celebration, noting that Oyo State has, from inception, remained a beacon of leadership, culture, education, and progressive governance in Nigeria. According to him, the state’s enduring identity as the Pacesetter State is firmly anchored on the resilience, intellect, enterprise, and unity of its people, as well as the strength of its institutions and rich traditional heritage.
The Okanlomo Oódua congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the State Executive Council, members of the Legislature and Judiciary, heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and Local Government Chairmen across the state for their various contributions to governance, stability, and development over the decades.
He also extended special commendation to His Imperial Majesty, Kabiyesi Senator Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, alongside all Royal Fathers the Obas, Baales, and traditional institutions whose wisdom, cultural custodianship, and stabilising influence have continued to preserve the identity, unity, and historical pride of Oyo State. Chief Sanusi noted that traditional institutions remain indispensable in bridging the past with modern governance.
As Oyo State embarks on a week-long celebration to reflect on its past, evaluate its present, and envision its future, the Okanlomo Oódua urged all stakeholders, government, traditional authorities, civil servants, youths, professionals, and the diaspora to recommit themselves to unity, peace, and collective responsibility in advancing the progress of the state.
“At 50, Oyo State stands not only as a symbol of longevity, but as a testament to what is achievable when heritage, vision, and the people align. The journey ahead demands renewed dedication to good governance, cultural preservation, economic growth, and social harmony,” he stated.
Chief (Engr.) Jubril Dotun Sanusi offered prayers for greater heights, enduring peace, and sustained development for Oyo State and its people, while wishing the state a memorable Golden Jubilee celebration.
Happy 50th Anniversary to Oyo State, the Pacesetter State.
