The Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief (Engr) Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has issued a strong caution to politicians against making statements capable of undermining the revered Olubadan stool.
In a statement made available to the press, Chief Sanusi emphasized that any spoken word directed against the sacred institution of the Olubadan of Ibadanland carries deep political and cultural consequences.
He noted that Ibadanland is built on a proud heritage where tradition, leadership, and unwavering respect for the Olubadan throne remain central to the identity and unity of its people. According to him, careless or disrespectful remarks about the institution amount to a direct challenge to the very foundation of Ibadan’s unity.
Chief Sanusi further warned that the loyalty of the Ibadan people is firmly rooted in their reverence for their traditional authority, stressing that any act or rhetoric that seeks to undermine this institution will not be taken lightly and could lead to a significant loss of political goodwill and public support.
“This is a call for caution, respect, and wisdom in public discourse,” he stated. “The voice of Ibadanland is united, and its heritage must be honored at all times.”
The statement serves as a reminder of the enduring importance of traditional institutions in maintaining social cohesion and cultural identity in Ibadanland.
