In a collective and unequivocal stance, the Ibadan Elite Broadcasters (IEB) expresses deep concern and condemns the ongoing deforestation of Agodi Gardens, a cherished natural heritage in Ibadan.
The indiscriminate removal of trees and alteration of the natural ecosystem in Agodi Gardens pose a severe threat to the environment and the well-being of the community. We call on the relevant authorities to intervene promptly and halt this destructive activity.
Furthermore, the IEB strongly frowns upon the reported attack on peaceful protesters advocating for the preservation of Agodi Gardens. The right to peaceful assembly and expression is fundamental in any democratic society, and we condemn any form of violence against individuals exercising these rights.
We urge the government and concerned stakeholders to engage in dialogue with the protesters, listen to their concerns, and work collaboratively to find sustainable solutions that prioritize the preservation of Agodi Gardens.
