The younger brother of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Alhaji Chief Musbau Gbolagade Ajimobi, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, describing his death as a monumental loss to Ibadanland, Oyo State, and the entire Yoruba nation.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, Chief Ajimobi said he was deeply heartbroken by the demise of the revered elder statesman, whom he described as a father, mentor, and leader par excellence whose wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to preserving Ibadan’s rich history and cultural heritage were unmatched.
“I am heartbroken over the death of my father, mentor, and a leader par excellence, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi. His passing has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. He dedicated his life to the service of humanity, the promotion of Ibadan’s history and culture, and the advancement of peace, unity, and progress among our people.”
Chief Ajimobi noted that the late Oloye Lekan Alabi lived an exemplary life marked by integrity, selfless service, and uncommon dedication to the development of Ibadanland. He added that the deceased’s outstanding contributions as a renowned historian, accomplished author, administrator, and custodian of Ibadan’s cultural heritage would remain a lasting legacy and continue to inspire future generations.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan-in-Council, members of the Ajorosun Club, the immediate family of the late Oloye Lekan Alabi, friends, associates, and the entire people of Ibadanland over the irreparable loss.
Chief Ajimobi prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the departed elder statesman, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and comforts his family, the traditional institution, and all sons and daughters of Ibadan with the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss.
He further urged the people of Ibadanland to immortalize the late Abese Olubadan by sustaining the ideals of integrity, patriotism, scholarship, cultural preservation, and selfless service that defined his remarkable life and enduring legacy.
