Oyo State Government has started airlifting intending Muslim pilgrims with the State Pilgrim Welfare’s Board (Muslim Wing) to the Holy Land of Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Hajj exercise as the first batch airlifted.
The First Batch who were airlifted on Thursday, aboard Aero Contractor Airline departed Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State to Medina, Saudi Arabia around 11:50pm.
The total number of the pilgrims airlifted is Four Hundred and Seventy-Five (475) comprising of 236 male and 239 female.
Second batch of the intending pilgrims are expected to be airlifted on Friday, followed by third and fourth batches.
Recall that the Oyo State Pilgrim Welfare Board (Muslim Wing) has completed the distribution of traveling materials to intending pilgrims from the state.
The materials distributed included traveling bags and clothes to be worn by the pilgrims as uniform and means of identification during the Hajj exercise.
Presiding over the distribution of materials on Tuesday at the State Hajj Camp in Olodo Ibadan, the Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board Professor Sayed Malik informed the pilgrims that a minor change in traveling arrangements has been effected, due to the war in Sudan.
