The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), in partnership with the Ibarapa Consultative Forum (ICF), has formally submitted a memorandum to the National Assembly, advocating for the creation of Ibadan State, Freshvoice Newsmedia reported on Wednesday.
The President-General of CCII, Prince Ajeniyi Ajewole, made this known during a press conference held at the Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo, in the Oyo State capital. He emphasized that the demand for Ibadan State is long overdue and called on stakeholders across the region to rally behind the cause.
“We are calling for the creation of Ibadan State. CCII, in collaboration with the Ibarapa Consultative Forum, has submitted a memorandum to the National Assembly. This is a long-overdue demand,” Ajewole said.
He further noted that Ibadan possesses the human and economic capacity to function as a state. “Ibadan is blessed with a wealth of human resources, including professionals like engineers and entrepreneurs. We are also receiving support from other regions such as Oke-Ogun and Oyo.”
Ajewole concluded by affirming that the Ibarapa region is fully aligned with the movement, reiterating their shared commitment to the realization of Ibadan State.
