Information reaching us awhile ago reveals that there are plans in place by the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association to call off the ongoing industrial action.
This was contained in report gathered by one of our correspondence who revealed that the skipping allowance which is meant for doctors working under Oyo State government and had skipped a level in the civil service was not being enjoyed prior to this time with an exception to those working with Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital.
He stated further, “when a Doctor is newly employed in a state, if he starts from level 1, such Doctor will be placed on level 2 salary thereby skipping a level which is recognition of their experience and long years in med school.
In the same vein, the state government under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde also approved hazard allowance for the doctors to complement other agreement as contained in their negotiations. It is expected that the Doctors meet in the coming hours to put an end to the ongoing strike action.
