The newly established Bayo and Bimpe Oyero Foundation, founded by the children of Chief Bayo Mustapha Oyero, Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland and former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), has commenced its philanthropic activities with a scholarship award and community health initiative.
At the foundation’s official launch, over 10 secondary school students from Odi-Odeyale, and 28 secondary school students across Ona Ara Local Government received full sponsorship for their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees. The announcement was made during the Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF) Scholarship Event, led by Alhaji Kola Bolomope.
Speaking shortly after the event, Dr. Sekinat Abisola Oyawa (née Oyero), the foundation’s coordinator, stated that she and her siblings established the foundation in honor of their parents. She further disclosed that the WAEC scholarships were funded by herself and her colleagues in the United Kingdom, emphasizing their commitment to empowering young minds through education.
In addition to the scholarship program, the Bayo and Bimpe Oyero Foundation will host a community health outreach featuring a health talk by Dr. Kehinde Adigun, a medical consultant from University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The health initiative, scheduled to take place at Saint David’s Primary School, the alma mater of Chief Mustapha Bayo Oyero, will offer free screenings for obesity, hypertension, diabetes, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.
Furthermore, the foundation has pledged to provide free medication for the first 250 attendees as part of its commitment to improving healthcare access in rural communities.
The launch of the Bayo and Bimpe Oyero Foundation marks a significant step in supporting education and healthcare within Ona Ara and beyond, aligning with the legacy of Chief Mustapha Bayo Oyero in promoting community development.
