A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and House of Representatives aspirant for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Akinjide Kazeem Akinola (AKA), has unveiled a major grassroots development initiative tagged “Light Up Ona-Ara,” aimed at installing over 350 solar-powered streetlights across communities in Ona-Ara Local Government Area.
Speaking through his media assistant, Akintunde Yusuf, Akinola expressed profound appreciation to APC leaders, stakeholders, women groups, party members, and supporters across the constituency for their support, encouragement, and solidarity throughout the party’s primary process.
He described the massive support received during consultations and the primary election as a reflection of the strength, unity, and acceptance of the APC at the grassroots level.
Akinola also commended members of his campaign structure, coordinators, Akinjide Ladies, and AKA volunteers for their sacrifices, loyalty, and peaceful conduct before and during the APC primary election.
According to him, the outcome of the primary election has not diminished his passion for service and community development.
“Politics should not only be about elections or positions. My passion has always been about service to the people, and that commitment remains unchanged,” he stated.
The APC stalwart noted that the “Light Up Ona-Ara” initiative is designed to improve security, boost economic activities, and enhance nighttime visibility across underserved communities within the local government.
He explained that Phase I of the project will focus on Ona-Ara Local Government, while Phase II will extend to communities in Egbeda Local Government Area in the coming weeks.
“Many of our communities still struggle with poor lighting and insecurity at night. This project is about restoring hope, improving safety, and creating an environment where businesses and residents can thrive,” Akinola added.
The APC chieftain further disclosed that the solar streetlight project forms part of his broader grassroots development agenda, which includes educational support initiatives, borehole projects, youth empowerment programmes, and several social intervention schemes across Egbeda and Ona-Ara federal constituency.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people irrespective of political outcomes, stressing that service to humanity remains his priority.
“The primary election may have come and gone, but my responsibility to the people did not end there. I will continue to support our communities in every way I can,” he said.
Akinola also called on Community Development Associations (CDAs) and landlords’ associations interested in benefiting from the initiative to formally indicate their interest through 09076321882, stating reasons their communities should be considered.
