Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has assured residents of his senatorial district that the ongoing installation of solar streetlights will be completed soon.
The senator made this known on Friday after observing Jumu’ah prayers and inaugurating the solar light and inverter he donated to the Aleshinloye Market Central Mosque in Ibadan.
He revealed that over 2,500 solar streetlight poles have already been installed across major streets in the district, with additional locations set to be covered in the coming days.
“We have installed solar lights on major streets across all the local governments in Ibadan. Currently, installations are ongoing in Igangan, Tapa, and Ayete, and they will soon be operational.
“By God’s grace, installation in Igboora, Idere, Eruwa, and Lanlate will be completed by mid-March,” he stated.
Senator Alli reiterated that the project is in line with his campaign promises to the people of Oyo South.
He emphasized that the initiative would enhance security, boost business activities, and contribute to the overall development of the district.
“Street lighting is a key element of urban development. It not only improves security but also stimulates economic growth by allowing businesses to operate for longer hours,” he added.
The lawmaker assured his constituents of his unwavering commitment to delivering more impactful projects across the senatorial district.
Speaking on his donation to the Aleshinloye Market Central Mosque, Alli pledged to extend similar support to other religious communities within the market and the entire Aleshinloye Market.
He also expressed gratitude to his constituents, party leaders, and stakeholders for their continuous support of his developmental initiatives.
In response, Imam Rasheed Olore, the Chief Imam of Aleshinloye Market Central Mosque, thanked the senator for his dedication to community development.
He described Alli as a leader who fulfills his promises and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him.
Olore urged other political leaders to follow Alli’s example by prioritizing projects that have a direct impact on the lives of the people.
Meanwhile, residents of areas already covered by the solar streetlight project have started experiencing its benefits, with traders, motorists, and pedestrians praising the improved visibility at night.
Many have hailed the initiative as another milestone in Senator Alli’s developmental agenda for Oyo South.
