In a heartfelt letter to His Excellency Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor, Royal Princess Adejoju Adeyemi, daughter of the Late Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III iku baba yeye Alaafin oyo, expressed deep sympathy and commiseration over the unfortunate fire incident that occurred on Monday, January 17, 2024, at Ire Akari Estate Area of Soka, Ibadan.
The princess conveyed shock at the devastation caused by the fire, which destroyed numerous houses and shops, bringing about a tense atmosphere in the affected neighbourhood. She expressed gratitude that the Governor and his family emerged unharmed from the incident.
Understanding the challenges faced, Princess Adejoju offered words of solace, saying, “From the ashes, a Phoenix rises. You too will rise from this, stronger and more resilient. Keep the faith, and know that I’m here for you.” She invoked a Yoruba adage, “Ile oba to joba ewa lobu kun,” emphasizing the resilience and beauty that can emerge even in challenging times.
