Since around mid-day on Wednesday 26th April, bearly 24hrs after the Governor of Oyo State clarified reasons for delay in emergence of new Alaafin and Soun, the rumour of election of the Alaafin-elect rent the air but no one seems to know or able to confirm the source of the news which has now been described as irresponsible false alarm.
In swift reaction, Freshvoice Newsmedia correspondence made a call to the Palace scribe that says the information is not through. Another news medium, Darling News online correspondent, Adeola Adewolu made calls to few palace sources and they all claimed they read it online the same way we did. Not satisfied, another call was made to one of the Candidates to the throne to confirm if there was any official development after the Governor’s clarification yesterday but he also claimed ignorance of any.
Finally, a call was made to a staff of Local government and Chieftaincy Matters at the Secretariat that would not want his name mentioned and he described the news as irresponsible and unbecoming of royalty because that stool is one of the major custodians of Yoruba traditions and Cultures. So till now, no one knows the source of this news and the main subject of the news has not come forth to explain why and how he is in the news again as Alaafin-elect without any authentication.
