Against the backdrop of growing security challenges in Nigeria, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on Yoruba people to remain vigilant.
He gave the charge at Ode-Omu, Osun State, during the annual Ode-Omu Day celebration, an occasion dedicated to reviewing community progress and setting new development goals.
The Olubadan commended the people of Ode-Omu under the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba James Bolarinwa Oladipupo, praising their unwavering commitment to communal growth. He assured them of Ibadan’s continued support and disclosed that next year’s edition would be chaired by an illustrious son and Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Tunde Afolabi.
In his remarks, former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Wale Adesiyan, reminded attendees that Ode-Omu was established at its current location in 1909 by ancient Ibadan warriors. He applauded all royal dignitaries present, especially the Olubadan, for the impressive turnout.
Members of the Olubadan-in-Council at the event included the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; the Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; and the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Senator Sarafadeen Alli.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, was represented by the Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo. The Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin, also attended alongside his chiefs.
