A federal House of Representatives aspirant from Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Aderogba Adebayo Taofik, MNI, has officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming by-election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Following the unfortunate demise of the previous occupant, Hon. Olaide Akinremi, Hon. Aderogba has affirmed that he is the best candidate to complete the tenure through 2027.
Hon. Aderogba made this declaration while featuring on Jamz 100.1 FM’s current affairs programme, *Periscope,* on Sunday. During the program, the presenter, Amb. Olayemi Afolabi, asked why Hon. Aderogba believes he is the right choice for the role. In response, Hon. Aderogba highlighted his extensive experience in both the private sector and union leadership, stating:
“I have been around for a while, bringing my experience from the private sector to public governance. I have worked for the past twenty years in the private sector, and I have also served as a state and national officer of the Nigerian Union of Foods and Beverages as a Comrade for the past 15 years. As the immediate Deputy National President of the Union, a position of influence, I have successfully facilitated job opportunities for my people in Ibadan North Federal Constituency. My experience uniquely positions me to bring governance closer to my people through effective lawmaking.”
When asked about his contributions to his community, Hon. Aderogba proudly mentioned his efforts in supporting education and infrastructure development:
“I have assisted several indigent students by paying their WAEC fees and have also built a water project in my local government. These are just a few examples of my commitment to improving the lives of my constituents.”
Addressing his relationship with APC members and party leadership, Hon. Aderogba expressed confidence in his candidacy:
“I maintain a good relationship with our party members and the leadership of our great party. I believe they will support me by voting for me to carry the party ticket.”
Regarding his ability to secure victory against opposition parties such as PDP and LP, Hon. Aderogba emphasized his strong network within the constituency:
“Thank you for this question, Amb. I have a formidable network of friends across Ibadan North Federal Constituency from Ward 1 to Ward 12. I am confident that if given the ticket, I will secure victory for the APC. We are the ruling party in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, and although we lost my brother, Hon. Akinremi, who performed admirably, I will continue to build on his legacy.”
On his educational background, Hon. Aderogba noted that he is an alumnus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, the University of Ibadan, and the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
