Ibadan Chieftaincy Title: Confusion As Dotun Sanusi, Remi Babalola Emerge As Jagun Balogun (See The Letters)
Controversies are currently trailing the unique chieftaincy tradition of Ibadanland following the appointment of two eminent sons of Ibadan as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland. The two appointment letters obtained by GOAL POACHER NEWS showed that the CEO of Ilaji Resorts, Engineer Dotun Sanusi’s letter was issued by Olubadan Advisory Council dated 28th March, 2022 and was signed by K.Liasu, Secretary of Olubadan Advisory Council.
The second letter issued to Mogaji Remi Ibrahim Babalola of Ogidi Compound, Ajegede, Oke Ofa Atipe was signed by Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Dr. Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun Alliwo Alli Okunmade 11.
A palace source who spoke with our correspondent said only two people are traditionally allowed to be elevated to Jagun line. He noted that if one is appointed as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland, the other person will be appointed as Jagun of Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland. “I think the Olubadan-in-Council will into the issue. Two people can’t be promoted to Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland.”
