The management team of Taye Currency’s concert, held in Ibadan, Oyo State, has explained why controversial singer Habib Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was not allowed to perform.
In an exclusive interview with Tribune Online, Jarule Entertainment, the organizers of the event, revealed that security concerns stemming from Portable’s recent comments about Ibadan led to the decision to keep him away from the venue.
Jarule Entertainment stated, “We consulted the Commissioner of Police and even signed an undertaking to ensure security at the venue. While adequate security was provided, we received reports that some individuals were making inquiries about Portable’s whereabouts and had lodged in Ibadan. Considering this, we decided it was best for him to stay off the event entirely.”
The management emphasized that Portable was the only artist on the lineup who couldn’t perform, describing the situation as regrettable but necessary. “As a professional management team, security is our top priority. This is why Portable could not take the stage. We hope the issue is resolved soon,” they added.
