Following his resounding victory at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, where he emerged as the South-West Zonal Representative of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Hon. Gbenga Ayinde Adewusi, fondly known as Arole, has penned a heartfelt message of appreciation to God, his supporters, and all stakeholders who made the victory possible.
Hon. Adewusi, who secured a convincing 5–1 win over his opponent, Mr. Adeyemi George (Osawe of Ogun State), described his election as “a collective triumph of faith, dedication, and the enduring spirit of unity that defines the handball family in the South-West.”
In his statement of appreciation, Arole expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for granting him grace and strength throughout the process, acknowledging that his victory was not by might but by divine favor.
He also extended appreciation to delegates, players, coaches, referees, and administrators who stood firmly by him, saying their confidence and trust will forever remain a source of inspiration.
“This victory is not mine alone — it belongs to every lover of handball, every passionate coach, every dedicated player, and every stakeholder who continues to believe in the future of the sport,” Arole stated.
Hon. Adewusi reserved special appreciation for His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, describing him as a beacon of support for sports and youth development in the region. He equally thanked other South-West Governors, Deputy Governors, Commissioners, and sports administrators for their roles in sustaining sports growth at the grassroots level.
He further acknowledged his mentor, HFN President, Mr. Samuel Ocheho, for his guidance and encouragement, while extending gratitude to his sponsors and supporters — Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Engr. Lanrewaju Adeleke, and Engr. Oluwole Adebayo — for their unwavering commitment to his journey.
“To my team, the Arole Political Group, my family, friends, and associates — your prayers, loyalty, and sacrifices made this possible. I am deeply humbled and eternally grateful,” he added.
Hon. Adewusi reaffirmed his commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and developmental leadership, promising to justify the trust reposed in him by serving diligently and uniting all stakeholders for the advancement of handball across the South-West and Nigeria at large.
“We are one family, bound by the love of handball and service to humanity. I will continue to serve with integrity, humility, and passion. This is only the beginning of greater things to come,” he concluded.
