In a major stride towards grassroots development, the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) has disbursed funds for the execution of 60 new micro-projects across 30 communities in the state.

The fund disbursement event, held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, marks another milestone in the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life in rural and underserved areas under the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023–2027 (Omituntun 2.0).

Delivering his keynote address at the event, the Chairman of OYCSDA, Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga, praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership and continued support for community-driven development. He disclosed that the new micro-projects are based on “felt-needs” identified by the communities themselves and span key sectors such as education, health, erosion control, and water provision.

According to Adeaga, the 60 projects include: Construction and renovation of community health centres in 7 communities, Construction and renovation of a block of 3 classrooms in 18 communities, Construction of culverts and lined drainages in 5 communities, Drilling of motorized boreholes in all 30 communities.

“These micro-projects are designed to expand access to essential services such as education, healthcare, potable water, and good roads. Beyond improving infrastructure, they also create jobs, enhance public health, and strengthen community resilience,” Adeaga stated.

He noted the significant progression of the OYO-CARES initiative since its launch in 2022. “Initially, only 48 communities benefited with a maximum grant of #15 million each. But thanks to Governor Makinde’s responsiveness to economic realities, the maximum grant has now increased to ₦18 million,” he said.

Adeaga added that after completing interventions in 48 communities, Governor Makinde approved supplementary funds for 66 additional communities, totaling 114 communities and 256 micro-projects. With this latest expansion to 30 more communities, the administration is scaling up inclusive development across the state.

The Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Project Monitoring, Rt. Hon. Abiodun Muhammed Fadeyi, in his remarks, urged all benefiting communities to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of their projects. He emphasized that the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) will monitor compliance.

We assure you that these projects will be implemented with integrity, and our communities will continue to support the Makinde administration,” he said.

The event was attended by community leaders, traditional rulers, civil society representatives, and OYCSDA officials.
