The Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji (Chief) Asiwaju Yekini Abass Oladapo, widely known as YK Abass, has extended warm greetings and felicitations to the Muslim Ummah as they commence the holy month of Ramadan 1446AH.
In a statement personally signed by Alhaji YK Abass and made available to Freshvoice Newsmedia, he described Ramadan as a sacred period of devotion, self-discipline, and reflection, urging Muslims to take full advantage of the blessings that come with the holy month.
He emphasized the importance of unity, charity, and spiritual rejuvenation, calling on the faithful to engage in acts of kindness, support the less privileged, and pray for peace, prosperity, and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
“As we begin this sacred journey of fasting, prayer, and seeking divine blessings, let us remember that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink but also about purifying our hearts, strengthening our faith, and fostering love and harmony within our communities. May Allah (SWT) accept our ibadah and grant us the strength to observe this holy month in good health and piety,” he stated.
Alhaji YK Abass also extended his Ramadan greetings to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere, the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Daud Akinola, and other Islamic leaders across the state.
Furthermore, as the first Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji YK Abass cautioned traders against arbitrary price hikes, urging them to uphold fairness and emulate the teachings of Ramadan in their business practices. He reminded market leaders and artisans to embrace honesty, compassion, and generosity, ensuring that essential commodities remain affordable for the general public.
He prayed that, like the sight of the crescent moon in the evening sky, the lives of traders and artisans in the state would shine brighter with the blessings of this holy month of Ramadan.
