Gunmen on Thursday, August 5, 2022 attacked and kidnapped the Oniku of Iku, in Ikare Akoko, High Chief Mikaila Bello, with three others at Ago Panu axis, Owo-Ikare Road, in Ondo State.
Others taken captive include a former House of Assembly Candidate for Akoko North-East Constituency, Yèyé Gbafinro; a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adeniran Adeyemo and a community leader, Bashiru Adekile.

According to the report, the victims were abducted Thursday evening, while on their way from Akure to Ikare.
A hunter, who served as vigilante in the area, told newsmen that the driver of the vehicle of the abducted victims was matcheted by the gunmen and now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical center, owo.
The driver of the vehicle was stabbed by the gunmen, but we were able to rescue him alone and rushed him to the hospital.
He is there receiving treatment now with wounds all over his body. Sadly, these people (bandits) are still lurking around our forest in Ondo”, the source said.
The kidnappers are yet to contact the victims’ families or demand a ransom at the time of filing this report.
Contacted, the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Funmi Odunlami, pleaded for time to get the full details of the incident.
