The Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji (Chief) Yekini Abass Oladapo, popularly known as YK Abass, on Sunday hosted a spiritually uplifting Ramadan lecture, drawing an array of distinguished personalities from various sectors. The event, which was held in Elewi Odo, Ibadan, had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, His Eminence, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola.
Other eminent personalities present included former Military Governor, General Raji Rasaki; Oloye Bayo Oyero; Oloye Nureni Akanbi Ile Iba; Commissioner for Works, Prof. Daud Kehinde Sangodoyin; Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Sikiru Sanda; Mogaji Abass Oloko; and Executive Vice Chairman of Pacesetter Transport Services, Mogaji Ademola Oladosu, Double T, among others.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland was ably represented by Oloye Hamsat Eleruwere, the Ekefa Balogun Olubadan. Also in attendance were Lagelu and Oluyole Local Government Chairmen, Hon. Mudashiru Komorudeen and Engr. Akeem Olatunji, respectively. Market leaders, including Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, and Alhaji Ibrahim Ibromiyu, as well as traders, were well represented. The event also had in attendance Iyalode Adeen of Yorubaland, Alhaja Sidikat Bolade Travel; Mayor of The Elite Broadcasters, Ààrẹ Olabode Anisoloja; and the Chairman of the Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide (YCYW), Asoju Odo Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, alongside other prominent business stakeholders.
The highlight of the event was the inspiring lecture delivered by Fodilat Sheikh Alhaji Ismail Hussein Adekunle Gbamolada, titled “Iberu Olorun” (Fear of God). The esteemed scholar emphasized the importance of piety, sincerity, and moral uprightness, urging the faithful to strengthen their relationship with the Almighty during and beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
Additionally, Professor K.K. Oloso, representing the Chief Imam of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, His Eminence, Fodilat Sheikh Imam AbdulGaniy Abubakry Agbotomokekere, delivered a short but impactful speech. He underscored the importance of faith-driven leadership and unity within the Muslim community while commending Alhaji YK Abass for his dedication to Islam and societal development.
In his address, Alhaji YK Abass expressed gratitude to all attendees for honoring the event, reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of traders and the economic development of Oyo State. He also appreciated the spiritual guidance provided by the learned clerics, which he described as timely and impactful.
The Ramadan lecture served as a platform for prayers, reflections, and unity among the people of Oyo State, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness and faith.
