Today, the Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Dr. Kolapo Temitope Glorious, welcomed aggrieved members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Ward 6 to his office. The delegation was led by Hon. Shuaib, a former leader of the house.
During their discussion, the Ward 6 representatives voiced their dissatisfaction with the selection process for nominees to various offices of supervisory councilors and special advisers. They expressed surprise and disappointment that their ward had been completely overlooked and shortchanged. Many speakers echoed the sentiment that the party leadership had been unfair in their decisions.
In his response, Chairman Kolapo Temitope Glorious thanked the members for accepting his invitation and commended them for speaking their minds. However, he criticized their decision to air grievances on social media, noting that this indicated they had not explored all available channels for peaceful resolution. He urged them to avoid actions that could undermine party unity.
Addressing their concerns, the Chairman attributed the situation to a lack of representation at the elders’ forum. He explained that after accommodating the elders, it was challenging to ensure that available positions were distributed ward by ward. He emphasized that the party leadership could not be blamed for the outcome, as the circumstances were beyond their control.
Dr. Kolapo Temitope Glorious assured the aggrieved members that his administration would work diligently to address their concerns. He promised to include some of them in future programs and advised them to reposition their ward for upcoming opportunities.
Hon. James, the councilor for Ward 6, thanked the Chairman for his fatherly role and swift intervention in addressing the protest. He urged the Chairman to remedy the situation so that he would not be the sole representative of Ward 6 in the administration.
The Chairman reiterated his commitment to ensuring fair representation and maintaining peace within the party. He called for unity and cooperation from all party members to achieve collective progress.
