The National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) Oyo State Joint Campus Committee has condemned the policy decision by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to redesign the N200, N500 and N1,000 denominations, and the subsequent announcements including the cash withdrawal limit and the fuel scarcity in the country have continued to generate reactions.
The Chairman of the NANS JCC Oyo, Comrade Adeleke Quiadri while reading the communique issued at the end of the Emergency Joint Meeting of the Association also berated the government on the current hike of petrol price stressing that such actions may lead to dropping out of students from school.
We considered the policy of the naira redesign and fuel scarcity as policy without human face, who came at the wrong time, the reasons for creating the new naira can’t be justified by the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.
Nigerian Students are going through hell to purchase petrol at indiscriminate prices due to lack of Direct supply from NNPC.
It’s very obvious that those involved in the planning of the national economy of Nigeria at this critical point in time has no idea of 21st century economy management.
The Leadership of NANS JCC Oyo Axis condemn this wicked act of CBN and call for reversal of this policies by bringing back the old naira notes, and also make availability of PMS to all Independent Marketers to avoid the fuel scarcity.
Federal Government should desist of punishing the Citizens of this country with this new policy.
The whole economy is down due to the lack of cash in circulation. Every single citizen of Nigeria needs cash for their day to day transaction of which they find it difficult to access. The CBN needs to understand that fact that we are not mature enough to that level of operating with cashless policy like we have it some country abroad.
The Federal Government of Nigeria together with the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria needs to act fast in stopping this hardship on the good people of Nigeria.
The students community is suffering because most of our students in all our campuses are passing through a lot due to this evil policy.
We should not forget that an hungry man is an angry man. We using this to display our displeasure to the FG, CBN and NNPC to do the right thing before we make the street our homes.
The NANS JCC OYO STATE hereby fault the new naira policy by CBN since it comes at the wrong timing which make the citizens of Nigeria to be suffering. And also we are appealing to IPMAN to speak to their members to support the students community cos we know that it is not their fault to sell at exorbitant price. At the same time we are using this medium to put pressure on FG to mandate NNPC to sell to the marketer directly from the NNPC depot.
The Leadership of NANS Oyo State Axis appreciate the Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde for stopping all campaign activities in the state during this trying time to identify with the pain of the citizens of Oyo State. We are humbly pleading for palliative( either cash or kind) for all our students that are suffering across all campuses.
Furthermore, we appreciate the intervention of State Director of DSS. We are also appealing to DSS to speak with the FG to act fast on this evil policies.
In conclusion NANS JCC OYO STATE AXIS will not hesitate to mobilize thousands of Nigeria Students in Nigeria to the streets if nothing is done on time between now and Friday.
