In a grand gesture of community support, several notable leaders and philanthropists made significant donations towards the construction of the proposed Agbotomokekere Mosque, aimed at meeting the growing spiritual needs of the Ibadan Muslim community. Among these esteemed contributors were the Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi; Honorable Remi Oseni, Member House of Representatives for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency; Mogaji Jelili Adanla, Turaki Adeen of Oyo State; the Honorable Minister for Power, Adebayo Adelabu; and Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), the First Fakhar Soliheen of Oyo State.

This noble fundraising initiative was a highlight of the annual Maolud Nabiyy celebration, held at the Ibadan Central Mosque in Oja’ba and organized by His Eminence, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Abubakry Agbotomokekere, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Grand Imam of Oyo State, and Grand Patron of the League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States. The event featured a powerful lecture on the theme of “Perseverance,” delivered by the Chief Imam of Ogbomosholand, Fodilat Sheikh Toliat Yunus Ayilara.


The Maolud Nabiyy celebration was also attended by Fadilat Sheikh Hashim Abdul Wahab Atere (Member Council of Chief Imam of Ibadanland and Chairman Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board Muslim Wing) and meticulously planned by Alhaji Abdul Rahman Agbotomokekere (Imam of Agbotomokekere Mosque, Lamuyegun, Olodo Ibadan), Alhaji Mustapha Onikoyi Okin (Ajanasi Chief Imam of Ibadanland), and Sulaimon Idris Titilope (P.A. to the Chief Imam of Ibadanland) on behalf of the Al-Imam Agbotomokekere Islamic Foundation. Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Alfa Idris expressed deep appreciation for all the donors, awardees, and members of the general public who graced the occasion.


With an estimated construction cost of ₦110,000,000, the proposed Agbotomokekere Mosque has already received over 50% of the required funds, thanks to generous pledges made during the event. The planning committee has released an official account for those who wish to contribute further to the actualization of this landmark project.

In recognition of their invaluable contributions, several dignitaries were honored with awards during the event, underscoring the community’s gratitude for their commitment to communal development.
Alfa Idris, on behalf of the organizing committee, announced that the commissioning of the Agbotomokekere Mosque is expected to take place in six months, Insha’Allah, and invited all contributors and supporters to witness the fruition of this historic project.

The completion of the Agbotomokekere Mosque will stand as a beacon of unity, faith, and community spirit in Ibadan, marking a significant milestone in the city’s religious and cultural landscape.
