The Ipebi is a deeply revered ritual in Yoruba kingship—a time of spiritual purification, ancestral communion, and divine initiation. It is during this sacred period that the king undergoes rites that bind him to his predecessors and the divine forces that guide his rule.
With the successful completion of the Ipebi, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I is now fully recognized as the Aláṣẹ Ẹ̀kẹjì Òrìṣà (second-in-command to the deities), assuming his rightful place as the guardian of Oyo’s traditions, culture, and people.
