The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the foremost umbrella body for all sons and daughters of Ibadanland, has announced its decision to honour Mogaji (Asiwaju) Nurudeen Akinade with the esteemed title of Grand Ambassador of Ibadan Culture.
This recognition, conveyed in an official letter jointly signed by CCII President General, Barr. Ajeniyi Ajewole, and the Chairman of the Ibadan Week Planning Committee, Chief Abiola Alli, underscores Mogaji Akinade’s exceptional commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Ibadan.

A respected community leader and cultural advocate, Mogaji Akinade has been a vital force in the planning and execution of cultural festivities in Ibadanland. Notably, he served as the former Chairman of the Ibadan Week Cultural Planning Committee, where he played a key role in shaping the city’s flagship cultural celebration.
The official investiture will take place during the Grand Finale of Ibadan Week 2025, scheduled for Saturday, 17th May 2025, at the historic Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
According to the CCII, this honour reflects Mogaji Akinade’s enduring dedication to cultural development and his impactful contributions to the socio-cultural evolution of Ibadanland.
