The Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has appointed Mr. Sunday Adepoju, a seasoned journalist and public relations expert, as the Acting Director of the newly established Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations (CICPR).
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Adepoju served as the Acting Head of the Protocols and Public Relations Unit of the institution. His new role takes effect from June 4, 2025, according to an official letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. Akin Odesola, on behalf of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, and the Management.
In his remarks, Mr. Adepoju expressed deep appreciation to the Rector; Deputy Rector, Mr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo; Registrar, Mr. Akin Odesola; Bursar, Alhaja Rashidat Titilola Oladepo; Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Samuel Oke Ogunniyi; and other key stakeholders within the Polytechnic community for the trust and confidence reposed in him and the dedicated professionals in the unit he leads. He also extended gratitude to the Governing Council, chaired by Hon. Yakubu Dati, and other council members for their support.
Mr. Adepoju joined the institution on June 11, 2022, as a Lecturer III in the Department of General Studies, School of Management Sciences. Since his engagement, he has contributed to several committees, including serving as Member/Secretary of the Corporate Communication Committee, Member of the Ceremonies Committee, and Member/Secretary of the Department of General Studies Academic Board.
With the creation of the Protocols and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Adepoju was redesignated as Assistant Registrar (Protocols and Public Relations) on March 1, 2023, in recognition of his vast experience in journalism, communications, and media practice, and was simultaneously appointed as the Acting Head of the Unit.
A native of Ogbomoso, Mr. Adepoju holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan. He also earned a National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, graduating in 2005. His professional certifications include a Certificate in Online Journalism from the UNESCO Centre of Reference, University of Ibadan; a Certificate in Peace Journalism from the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Ibadan; and a Proficiency Certificate in Photography and Film Production from Katsina Youth Craft Village (KSYCV) in collaboration with the NYSC.
Mr. Adepoju is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Oyo State Chapter. His professional background spans multiple roles, including reporting for Ogbomoso Insight Newspapers, Nigerian Tribune (Ibadan Headquarters), serving as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication and Digital Media at the University of Calabar, working as a Communication Consultant at Glabens Communications, and co-publishing Pan-Nigerian News (pannigeriannews.com).
He has authored academic publications and contributed opinion pieces and feature articles to several national dailies and online platforms. He has also participated in numerous trainings, workshops, and seminars in communication, public relations, advertising, social media, conflict management, administration, and digital media.
