The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a three-count charge against Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, for alleged spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event, contravening the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
Cubana Chief Priest is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
This development comes shortly after controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, was sentenced to six months imprisonment for similar offenses involving Naira abuse.
Channels Television reports that a copy of the charge, filed on April 4th by EFCC’s prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and seven other lawyers representing the Commission’s chairman, was obtained.
In Count 1, it is alleged that Okechukwu Pascal, on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
In Count 2, it is alleged that Okechukwu Pascal, sometime in 2020, in Lagos, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 during a social event, also contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
In Count 3, it is alleged that Okechukwu Pascal, sometime in January 2024, in Lagos, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 during a social event, once again contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
The EFCC remains committed to upholding the laws of the land and ensuring that perpetrators of financial crimes are brought to justice.
