This was gathered from a condolence message personally signed by, Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde and made available to Freshvoice Newsmedia on Friday evening.
The statement reads: I extend my heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the good people of Ibadanland, and indeed the entire Oyo State on the transition of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The news of Oba Olakulehin’s passing in the early hours of today, Monday, July 7, 2025, has left a void in the hearts of many. His reign, though brief, was profoundly impactful—characterized by wisdom, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the unity and advancement of our cherished Ibadanland.
Oba Olakulehin will be remembered as a monarch who carried the weight of leadership with dignity and honor. His legacy of service and dedication to his people will remain indelible in the annals of Ibadan’s rich history.
In this moment of solemn reflection, I also wish to congratulate High Chief Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, who is next in line to ascend the revered throne as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland. May divine guidance and ancestral blessings be upon him as he prepares to lead our city with the same strength, foresight, and grace that have defined the Olubadan institution for generations.
To the family of our dearly departed monarch and to all Ibadan sons and daughters, I share in your grief and extend my deepest sympathies. May the Almighty grant us the fortitude to bear this monumental loss, and may the soul of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin find peaceful rest among the ancestors.
