The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has announced the withdrawal of the registration certificate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), citing longstanding leadership crises and multiple constitutional violations.

In an official statement signed by Omolara Esan, Director of Information and Public Relations, the Ministry disclosed that the CAC’s decision, communicated via a letter dated October 6, 2025, was made in accordance with Sections 8(1)(c) and 8(1)(d) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, following a thorough investigation into the Council’s affairs.

According to the report, the CAC discovered serial breaches of the NYCN Constitution and violations of CAMA 2020, particularly Sections 833 and 834, which led to the de-recognition of all existing leadership, trusteeship, and management structures within the organization.

To ensure stability and continuity, the CAC has constituted an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the Council’s operations for one year, effective October 6, 2025.

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development, acknowledging the Commission’s legal authority, urged all youth stakeholders, affiliate bodies, and partner organizations to cooperate fully with the IMC to restore unity, transparency, and institutional credibility to the Council.

“This restructuring process is aimed at restoring legitimacy and accountability to the NYCN, in line with its founding ideals,” the Ministry stated.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to building a stable, credible, and inclusive youth governance structure that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ensuring Nigerian youths remain key drivers of national development.
