The Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland and Asiwaju of Ona Ara, Oloye Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has extended his warm greetings to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and felicitated with the newly crowned Aláàfin of Òyó, His Imperial Majesty, Ikú Bàbáyèyé, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, on his historic coronation.
This was contained in a press statement personally signed by Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Chief Sanusi described the coronation of Oba Owoade as “a dawn of a new era in the ancient Oyo Empire,” noting that the legacy and rich cultural heritage of the Aláàfin stool must be sustained and preserved.
He also charged the newly crowned monarch to “uphold the enduring legacies of the late Aláàfin, Oba Lamidi Atanda Adéyemí III, whose reign remains deeply etched in the annals of Yoruba history for its strength, wisdom, and cultural renaissance.”
While expressing gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his statesmanship, maturity, and dedication in overseeing the smooth and peaceful selection process, Sanusi emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and continuity in the traditional institutions of Oyo State.
“The emergence of Oba Owoade is a testament to divine providence and the unshakable cultural foundation of the Yoruba people. I pray for wisdom, strength, and a reign of peace for His Imperial Majesty as he ascends the sacred throne of his forebears,” the statement concluded.
