Veteran broadcaster and Group General Manager FRESH FM NIGERIA , Alhaji Abolade Salami has dissociated himself from a publication trending in the media that he has been appointed as a member of the Media and Publicity Committee for the re-election of the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued and released to the media in Ibadan on Thursday night by the Ace broadcaster, Alhaji Salami said that he had at no time applied to serve as a member of the Media and Publicity Committee to campaign for the second term of Seyi Makinde.
Alhaji Salami urged members of the public to disregard the publication. The statement personally signed by Alhaji Abolade Salami
Reads: “My attention has been drawn to a publication on the social media that I have been appointed as a member of the Media and Publicity committee for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde and I hereby decline the offer due to my position as a serving media executive with indepth knowledge of the ethics of my profession.
“The general public is hereby advised to disregard the falsehood already trending on the social media and take it with a pinch of salt as I am not permitted by my professional calling to be partisan”
“I am not a member of any committee whatsoever set up by the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde or any of his aides for his re-election or any political activity in any form. I am not a member of any political party and neither am I involved in any political activity in any way.
“With a practice spanning over four decades, I am a seasoned professional, and broadcast journalist of note without any partisan relationship of any kind with any political party while I strictly observe the code and ethics of our profession which forbid partisanship and political leanings.
The Fresh FM radio station which I work for has a strong policy on objectivity and non-partisanship in its entire operations and would never sacrifice that for anything.
