The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, on Wednesday commissioned the newly completed Abayomi-Fakayode Community Health and Maternity Center, marking another milestone in his administration’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
A statement from the Chairman’s Press Secretary noted that the project, which was initiated over ten years ago by the community, has now been completed with the support and intervention of the Ona Ara Local Government under Dr. GLORIOUS’ leadership.
In her welcome address, the President of Abayomi-Fakayode Community, Alhaja Shuti Mubo, commended Dr. GLORIOUS for his developmental drive and appreciated the local government’s role in seeing the project to fruition. She described the Chairman as a leader with transformative ideas who prioritizes the welfare of the people.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Temitope GLORIOUS expressed gratitude to the Abayomi-Fakayode descendants who donated the land for the facility and lauded the efforts of the community leadership. He paid glowing tribute to the community president, describing her as “a great example of a woman in power whose calmness and developmental initiatives have inspired others.” The Chairman prayed that all expectant mothers who deliver at the center would experience safe childbirth by the grace of God.
Also speaking, community leader Aare Oloyede recalled that the health center project began a decade ago and thanked God that it was finally commissioned during the tenure of a female community president, with strong support from the local government.
Representing the Chief Medical Officer of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Mukail Mustapha, Matron Akande appreciated Dr. GLORIOUS for consistently supporting healthcare initiatives. She emphasized that Ona Ara Local Government currently boasts the highest number of community-based maternity centers in Oyo State—a testament to the Chairman’s focus on healthcare delivery.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by top local government officials, including the Secretary, Hon. Babatunde Sunmonu; Chief of Staff, Hon. Isiaka Arinola; Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaja Ojewumi; as well as Directors, Supervisory Councillors, Special Assistants, and other dignitaries.
With this new facility, the people of Abayomi-Fakayode and its environs will now have improved access to maternal and child healthcare, reinforcing the NEW ERA Agenda of Dr. GLORIOUS’ administration in Ona Ara Local Government.
