The stage is set for a thrilling contest as Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, a prominent aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Oyo State, clarified that President Bola Tinubu has not anointed any candidate, saying all the aspirants are on an equal footing, and the outcome will depend on their individual strengths, leadership skills, and ability to connect with the people.
He made the clarification ,contrary to rumours making the rounds, that President Bola Tinubu has not anointed any of the aspirants contesting for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State at the empowerment program organised by member representing Saki West Constituency, Shittu Ibrahim.
Olaniyan’s assertion aligns with Senator Abdul Fatai Buhari’s earlier statement, emphasizing that the presidency has not endorsed any candidate. This clear message suggests that the APC’s governorship primary in Oyo State will be a free and fair contest, with no favored candidate.
Olaniyan’s emphasis on democracy and numbers highlights the importance of grassroots support in securing the party’s ticket. According to him, “Politics is about democracy, democracy is about numbers.”
The aspirant’s reference to President Tinubu’s own experience, where he wasn’t endorsed by former President Buhari, sets a precedent for the current contest. This narrative suggests that the party’s nomination process will be driven by the people’s voices, rather than backroom deals or endorsements.
